I Name My God
by Padma Jared Thornlyre

I name my god by grain-barley, maize;
By coconut and quince, olive-name

By fruit my god; by moon-crescent, owl;
I name my god by flesh-diamondback
And salmon, pheasant, elk, buffalo.

I eat my god and know myself as food:
My ego's blood, fermented, draught of ghosts;
My corpse my gift to maggots, crows, or flame.

I feed my god with sex, masturbate
And couple: burrow, bliss, baste in sweat;

I feed my god with art, muscular;

I feed my god by thaw, thunder, snow.
We salivate, convulse, share one skin.
