This enjoyable novel follows one woman's adventures as well as those
around her as she embarks on a new career in modeling. Helena meets
Adie Barker, Vice President of the B & R Modeling Agency in the checkout
line at a convenience store. Adie hands Helena her business card and
asks her to come to the office at nine on Monday morning. Adie says
that she has a future in modeling. Helena goes in and her future changes
forever.
The attraction both women sensed at the check out line continues unabated
when Helena arrives. At the same time, Adie becomes convinced that Helena
definitely could be a strong model. A test photo shoot is scheduled
for the next morning. Both women fight to suppress their erotic attraction
and try to quench their desires with others. Helena goes home and seeks
relief from her friend Michael while Helena goes to a lesbian bar where
she picks up Leah. Neither experience, while taking the edge off, really
satisfies Helena or Adie.
Helena shows up for the test photo shoot the next day and it goes incredibly
well. She is hired for a three-month contract to start and Adie offers
to take her to lunch to celebrate. Helena accepts and soon, instead
of going to lunch, they are going to Adie's apartment. Once there, Adie
makes it clear what she wants, much to Helena's pleasure and relief.
The experience is incredible for both and sets the stage for their new
relationship.
Helena embarks on her new career as a fashion model and begins to take
charge of her life. Her character evolves, as she pulls in the power
and validation of the beauty of her own body as well as her business
sense. At the same time, she has to deal with the stress and conflicts
of her new situation. The turmoil steadily increases at the modeling
agency and Helena must work all the angles to chart the future she wants.
This is an enjoyable novel with plenty of twist and turns. The writing
is crisp and flows well, both in the numerous erotic scenes as well
as the non-erotic scenes. Hopefully, this is not the last from Rex Gordon.
